Clean up your site's SEO with Claude and real Search Console data

Find pages that get no clicks, decide what to delete, merge or rewrite, and protect live pages with a check before every edit.

Start the steps

Explain it simply

Google Search Console shows which searches bring people to your site. Claude is good at doing the edits but doesn't know your numbers, so you give it real data first. This guide uses that data to find dead pages and fix them without breaking anything.

What you need

  • Access to your site's Google Search Console.
  • A way for Claude to see the data: an export, or a Search Console connection through an MCP connector.
  • Permission to edit the site, and a backup.

Steps

  1. Bring in real data first

Export the last 90 days of page and query data from Search Console, or connect it through an MCP connector. The course this guide follows uses ChatSEO's connector, which needs its Pro plan.

Never let Claude fill in search volumes or rankings it can't see; it will guess a plausible number.

  2. List the pages nobody finds

Start with pages that have had their chance: at least three months old, with almost no impressions.

PromptWritten by our editors from the sources
Using my Search Console data, list every page with zero clicks and fewer than 50 impressions in the last 90 days, excluding pages published in the last 3 months.

For each page, recommend delete, merge (and into which page), or rewrite, with one line of reasoning from the data.
  3. Point the pages you keep at searches you already appear for

Merge pages that compete for the same searches, and rewrite the survivors around the queries Google already shows them for.

  4. Protect live pages before every edit

In the source's own failures, AI edits dropped ranking tables from city pages and deleted the key section of a comparison page. This check catches that.

PromptWritten by our editors from the sources
Before changing any live page, list every table, form, call to action and embed on the current version.
Confirm each one is still in your edited version.
If anything is missing, stop and show me the difference before publishing.
  5. Check results weekly

Compare clicks and impressions for the pages you changed with the four weeks before, and flag anything that dropped.

How to know it worked

  • Every changed page still has its tables, forms and calls to action.
  • Clicks to the pages you kept rise over the following weeks.

Watch-outs

  • The 1,500-to-15,000 monthly clicks result is self-reported by ChatSEO's co-founder.
  • On a new site chasing competitive searches, he says the same process produces pages that rank around 40th.
