Generate upload-ready Google Ads variations with your brand rules built in
A growth marketer who had never coded built a Claude Code workflow and a Figma plugin that cut ad-variation production from about 30 minutes to about 30 seconds.
Explain it simply
A marketer who had never coded used an AI coding tool to build a helper for writing Google ads. It asks for the campaign details, writes many versions that follow the company's style rules, and saves a file ready to upload. Each ad version went from about half an hour of work to about half a minute.
What was done
Austin Lau, a growth marketer at Anthropic, had never written code. A colleague's Slack guide got him to install Claude Code.
He built a command that asks for campaign data, existing copy and keywords, checks every line against saved skills for brand voice, product accuracy and search-ad best practices, and exports an upload-ready CSV.
He also built a Figma plugin that generates creative variations in one click.
How it went
Anthropic reports ad-variation production dropped from about 30 minutes to about 30 seconds per variant.
- Vendor case study: Anthropic writing about its own product.
- A third-party write-up puts a full campaign refresh at about two hours down to 15 minutes.
- The workflow enforces Google's character limits instead of leaving them to chance.
Prompt
Build me a /rsa command for Google Ads responsive search ads.
Ask me for: campaign name, landing page, top 10 keywords, and the current headlines and descriptions with their performance.
Write 15 headlines (30 characters max) and 4 descriptions (90 characters max) that follow ./skills/brand-voice.md. Flag any claim not backed by ./product-facts.md.
Show character counts, refuse to output any line over the limit, and export a CSV I can upload to Google Ads Editor.
Setup notes
- Write two short skill files: brand voice and product facts.
- Have Claude Code build the command, then test it on last month's campaign.
- Review the CSV before uploading; keep a person responsible for claims.
Business fit
Who this helps, and how:
- StartupsOne-person growth teams can test more ad variants without an agency.
- Shopify & ecommerceStores running search ads can refresh copy per collection or promotion.
- AgenciesPPC agencies can encode each client's brand rules as skills and reuse the command.
