Explain it simply

A headshot photographer was paying for five different programs, about $750 a month, to organize and send photos. Even though he had never studied coding, he asked Claude Code, an AI that writes software, lots of questions and built one tool that does it all. It also puts a sponsor's branding on every gallery guests receive.

What was done

Colson Griffith wasn't happy with existing headshot software, because none of it gave event guests a branded experience. Using Claude Code and "a bunch of questions," he built a gallery tool that organizes, delivers and archives branded headshot galleries for guests. That lets the company or sponsor behind a headshot studio at an event get exposure to every attendee who receives a photo.

How it went

The new app replaced five software programs and the studio cancelled about $750 a month in subscriptions. He says bugs now get fixed with a five-minute Claude prompt instead of a support ticket and a three-day wait.

  • Limits: it took about two months of late nights ("I lost two months of sleep"). The figures are his own from a LinkedIn post, and he doesn't share details on hosting, security or how guest data is stored, which are worth planning for if you build something similar.

PromptWritten by our editors from the source
"Build a web app for my headshot studio that:
1. Organizes photos by event and guest.
2. Delivers each guest a branded gallery with the event sponsor's logo and colors.
3. Archives past events so galleries can be found and resent later.
Ask me questions about anything you need before you start."

Before building: list every subscription you pay for, the one or two features
you use in each, and what's missing.
