Explain it simply
Search engines understand a product page better when the page includes hidden structured data, which is a labeled summary of the business, product, and FAQs. He asked Claude Code, an AI coding helper, to add that data to the Shopify theme and to write clearer image descriptions. It also cleaned up image problems that were slowing the page down.
What was done
He gave Claude Code the requirements for Organization, Product, FAQ and Author structured data (JSON-LD). It wrote the Liquid templates, added them to the theme and checked them in Google's Rich Results Test. It then audited the product images, wrote descriptive alt text for those missing it, converted them to WebP and added lazy loading. It also found and fixed bugs in existing store files without being asked.
How it went
Both tasks took about 40 minutes of work. Largest Contentful Paint dropped from 8.6s to under 4s, and the accessibility score reached 100/100.
- Limits: the speed and accessibility results are measured; the "+20–30% AI visibility" and "12–15% citation likelihood" figures in the post are his own estimates, not measured. It's one small store (17 product images).
- Other Shopify sellers recommend making AI edits on a duplicate theme and checking them before publishing, because changes to the live theme take effect immediately.
Prompt
"Work on a duplicate of my live theme. Add JSON-LD structured data for
Organization, Product, FAQ and Author using Liquid so it fills from store data.
Validate it and list any errors. Then audit every product image: write
descriptive alt text where it's missing (describe the product, no keyword
stuffing), convert images to WebP, and add lazy loading below the fold.
Report what you changed, and run a page-speed and accessibility check before
and after."
Our prompt from the requirements the post describes. Work on a duplicate theme first.
