Explain it simply
Facebook's ad tool now has a built-in AI helper that can explain how your ads are doing. An agency tested it on a real account and found it reported the return on ad money as about 14 times what was spent when the real number was under 2 times. The lesson is to check any AI's numbers against your own real data before acting on them.
What was done
Skaleit, a Meta ads agency for ecommerce brands that says it manages $3.4M a month in ad spend, gave Manus access to a live client account whose performance had dropped since January 2026.
The prompt: compare the last 30 days with January, explain why ROAS dropped, and give a plan to restore performance. The team then checked each part of the answer against the account's real data and their own scaling methods.
How it went
Manus reported January ROAS as 14.25x and the last 30 days as 7.04x. Neither was right. When asked whether it was sure about January, it rechecked and answered 1.76.
- It pushed Meta's creative enhancement bundles, which the agency says most ecommerce brands turn off.
- It blamed the drop on the learning phase and told the team to chase 50 conversions per ad set.
- It suggested moving budget to Audience Network because of higher engagement, not purchases, and gave the standard "consolidate ad sets" advice, which the agency says underperforms on some of its accounts.
- The agency's scores out of 5: audit 4, reporting 4, campaign setup 4, placement breakdown 4, copywriting 3, creative analysis 2, strategic scaling 1. Its verdict: useful for small lead-gen accounts and quick reports, not safe for ecommerce scaling.

TEST PROMPT (as described in the source)
Analyze the last 30 days vs January. Explain why ROAS dropped and
give me a plan to restore performance.
VERIFICATION FOLLOW-UP (adapted, ours)
Before giving recommendations, list every number you used (spend,
revenue, ROAS, CPA, conversions) for each date range, and tell me
which report and attribution setting each one came from.
I will check them against Ads Manager before we continue.
The test prompt as the review describes it; the follow-up is ours.
Setup notes
- Match spend, revenue and ROAS to Ads Manager for the same dates and attribution window.
- Cross-check revenue against Shopify or your store's backend.
- Reject suggestions that optimize for engagement when your goal is purchases.
Business fit
Who this helps, and how:
E-commerce sellers: treat any AI-reported ROAS as a draft until it matches Ads Manager and your store's sales.
Shopify & ecommerceAgencies and freelancers: run this same test (one real account, one diagnosis prompt, a line-by-line check) before letting in-platform AI near client budgets.
AgenciesLocal service businesses on small budgets: use the agent for reports and campaign drafts, and keep budget decisions human.
Local & serviceMedical and health practice owners: check every suggested setting and auto-generated text change against advertising rules for your field before turning it on.
Local & serviceStartup founders: use it for quick placement and reporting reads, not for scaling decisions.
